DESPERATE MOVE TO DISCREDIT SEVEN SENATORS By Aquiles Z. Zonio PhilBoxing.com Fri, 29 Sep 2017 SENATE ? Labeling seven senators as against the Senate Resolution no. 516 was downright unfair. The office of senator Manny Pacquiao was not given a copy of such resolution titled ?RESOLUTION URGING GOVERNMENT TO UNDERTAKE THE NECESSARY STEPS TO STOP THE SPATE OF KILLINGS, ESPECIALLY OF OUR CHILDREN, AND DIRECTING THE APPROPRIATE SENATE COMMITTEE TO CONDUCT AN INQUIRY, IN AID OF LEGISLATION, TO DETERMINE THE INSTITUTIONAL REASONS, IF ANY THAT GIVE RISE TO SUCH KILLINGS.? ?I have not seen even a glimpse of such resolution. I could have signed it if I was given the opportunity to read and study it,? Pacquiao said. The resolution was circulated around and made some select senators ? except Manny Pacquiao, Koko Pimentel, Cynthia Villar, Tito Sotto, Dick Gordon, Gringo Honasan and Migz Zubiri ? to sign it. The intention was very obvious ? to destroy the image of seven senators and mislead the public. As Christian, Pacquiao will never support or tolerate killings of children. This black propaganda and demolition job is, no doubt, a handiwork of people critical of the Duterte administration. These critics belong to the minority but they are scattered all over ? in the Senate, media, business sector, academe, vested-interest groups, etc. They are nothing but bunch of hypocrites. During the previous regime, they did nothing to help address the narcotics problem in the country. Some of them were even protectors of those involved in the illegal drugs trade. What they did was foul and totally unfair. Foul because the resolution was intended to mislead the public and put the seven senators in a bad light. The critics labeled the seven senators as against said resolution even without getting their personal stand on the issue. After 16 senators had signed SR 516, one blog site came out with a damaging story calling the seven senators as myrmidons of Malacanang. The blog item was also carried by some media outlets the following day. The seven senators will never allow themselves to become mental slaves or political lackeys of anybody. They have proven, time and again, that they are nobody?s minions. Their personal record and achievements will speak for themselves. Pacquiao vowed to remain supportive of the administration?s legislative measures, programs and policies. ?As long as the administration?s programs and policies are for the good of the people and the country, I will continue to support it,? Pacquiao said. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Aquiles Z. Zonio. |
