Sismundo Outpowers Boyce Sultan in Knock Out-Filled Bohol Card @ ICM

PhilBoxing.com

Bohol fight fans got a really cool boxing treat last Sunday August 20 at Island City Mall as Harada Boxing Promotions (HBP) showcased five lively pro boxing fights, four of them ending up by way of thrilling knock out.

In the headliner of the high-octane card billed as "Suntok Sa Pangarap," 45-fight veteran Bohol warrior Ricky "Sisbomba" Sismundo (32-10-3, 14 KO's) delivered a standing round three TKO battering to 23-year-old former ALA fighter Boyce Sultan (9-9-1, 5 KO's) of Zamboanga, with the third man having to stop the banging. Their short but stirring power-filled rumble was in the 140-pound weight-class.

The action was the first time in four years that the Boholano Sismundo, 30, performs in his native land as in past years he has been continuously battling in Japan, the United States and Canada.

Also rewarding for Sismundo was that he was able to present to his Japanese manager Mr. Minoru Harada the birthday gift of a satisfying knockout win as Mr. Harada was on very day celebrating his 59th birthday.

In addition, Sismundo's trainer in Japan, Mr. Msakzu Kimura had flown all the way from the Land of the Rising Sun to support him and the Boholano did not disappoint.

RIcky Sismundo had in his corner his Bohol coach former boxer Johnreil "Sakura Jun" Maligro. Not long ago, Maligro used to be an international hard-striking flyweight boxer who battled several times in Japan and amassed a record of 13-2, 10 KO's. Now Maligro of Danao, Bohol, is a successful trainer.

After the fight, they are friends. Ricky Sismundo lay his left arm on opponent Boyce Sultan after their tough main event battle Sunday Aug 20 at ICM in Bohol.

The co-main event produced a similar electrifying result as undefeated 18-year-old Bohol flyweight Danrick "D-Stroyer" Sumabong (3-0, 3 KO's) of Harada Boxing Gym overpowered the more experienced John Carlo Sabellina of Misamis Oriental.

It was an impressive round 3 TKO win for the young Danrick Sumabong whose brother Ritchie also fought in card and won.

In the main supporting bout, Cebuano super featherweight Junny Canoy Salogaol, 23, of the new Big Yellow Boxing Gym needed two rounds to dismantle Eddie Estibat, 21, of the City of Cabadbaran in Caraga, Mindanao.

Moreover, in the international fight of the evening, undefeated 130-pounder Ming Hung Lee of Taipei, Taiwan, battered by KO in round 1 Filipino fighter Reynold Salon of Caminguin, the paradise island province of sweet lanzones.

The Taiwanese winner Ming Hung Lee trains and fights here in the Philippines. This year he has already scalped three Pinoy warriors.

In a bantamweight four-rounder, debutant HBG fighter Ritchie Sumabong, brother of Danrick Sumabong, began his pro boxing career with a unanimous decision win by outdoing Ramie Gaabon, 26, from the famous city of Golden Friendship Cagayan de Oro.

"Suntok Sa Pangarap" last Sunday August 20 at the car park area of Island City Mall in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, was a cool effort of young boxing promoter Kazuya Harada and his dear father Mr. Minoru Harada of Harada Boxing Promotions (HBP).
