Suntok Sa Pangarap: Sultan Battles Sismundo Sunday @ ICM, Bohol

PhilBoxing.com

Bohol fight fans get ready for a cool free-of-charge open to the public boxing treat this Sunday August 20 at Island City Mall car park in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, as Harada Boxing Promotions proudly presents five exciting pro boxing fights plus 10 amateur combats.

Billed as "Suntok Sa Pangarap," the entertaining card features as headliner the clash between 44-fight fight Bohol warrior Ricky "Sisbomba" Sismundo (R) taking on Mindanao's "Astroboy" Boyce Sultan (9-8-1, 5 KO's) in a thrilling 8-rounder in the 140-pound division.

During the last four years, Ricky Sismundo, now 30, has been actively fighting abroad. With his Japanese matchmaker Kei Nidairain, Ricky (31-10-3, 13 KO's) fought multiple battles in Japan, as well as in the United States, plus three times in Canada; and now he is delighted to be back home, fighting in his native Bohol for the first time in years.

In addition to that, fight day (Sunday August 20) is a special day for Sismundo as his dear Japanese manager Mr. Minoru Harada, head of Harada Boxing Gym, will be working in his corner, while celebrating his 59th birthday. So fans can imagine how bad Ricky wants to give his good boss the exciting birthday gift of a thrilling knock out win.

Will Ricky be able to do it? Or will the younger 23-year-old Sultan of Mindanao spoil the birthday party?

One of the beauties of boxing is that anything can happen, any of the two can win.

Sismundo has been doing better than Sultan. But Sultan is no rookie. He has been a pro boxer for over 6 long years; he knows the business of throwing blows and before he used to train at the famed ALA gym in Cebu.

Plus, boxing runs in Boyce Sultan's blood. Some of his relatives have been fighters. His brother Dondon Sultan was a pro boxer who retired not long ago. Another brother Jonas "Zorro" Sultan is a good world-ranked ALA fighter scheduled to fight Casimero in 4 weeks. So at the end, who will win their battle, Boyce Sultan or Sismundo?

There is only one way to know.

The co-main event showcases the third pro fight of undefeated 18-year-old Bohol golden boy Danrick "D-Stroyer" Sumabong (2-0, 2 KO's) of HBG (Harada Boxing Gym), against the much more experienced John Carlo Sabellina of Alubijid in Misamis Oriental. This is an 8-rounder between two heavily tattooed fighters in the 112-pound division.

AWESOME SUPPORTING BOUTS

In the main supporting bout, Cebuano Junny Canoy Salogaol, 23, of the new Big Yellow Boxing Gym is set to collide against Eddie Estibat, 21, of the City of Cabadbaran in Caraga, Mindanao. Both men are orthodox fighters and the clash is an 8-rounder in super featherweight.

The international fight of the evening features undefeated 130-pounder Ming Hung Lee of Taipei, Taiwan, battling Filipino Reynold Salon. Salon is the lucky boxer who hails from the paradise island-province of stunning beaches and sweet lanzones, Caminguin.

Salon's Taiwanese opponent Ming Hung Lee trains and fights here in the Philippines. This year, Lee has already bagged two victories, one in Masbate and the last one in CDO; and now Lee targets the Caminguin boxer Salon to be his next dinner. Will Lee be able to brutalize Salon, or will it be the other way around? We shall see.

Moreover, in a 4-rounder bantamweight battle, debutant HBG fighter Ritchie Sumabong might have drink good cups of herbal Sumabong tea as he begins his pro boxing career taking on Ramie Gaabon, 26, who hails from the city of Golden Friendship Cagayan de Oro.

Plus, ten exciting amateur fights complete the entertaining evening of boxing in Bohol, and attending free pro boxing with family and friends at ICM this Sunday sounds as a really good plan.

"Suntok Sa Pangarap" is an effort of young promoter Kazuya Harada, 22, and his father veteran man of boxing Mr. Minoru Harada of Bohol's HBG Harada Boxing Gym Promotions in cooperation the City Government of Tagbilaran, Mayor John Geesnell "Baba" Yap and the professional assistance of City Sports Coordinator Roel Sarmiento.

The show will be this coming Sunday (August 12) at the car park of Island City Mall in Tagbilaran City, Bohol, with the first combat beginning at 5 PM.
