ZONIO: BROAD DAYLIGHT BOXING HEIST IN AUSTRALIA

PhilBoxing.com

THE WORLD had just witnessed the biggest broad daylight boxing robbery in Brisbane, Australia.

Jeng Gacal, now an incumbent City Councilor in General Santos, said members of Team Pacquiao have no one to blame but themselves.

?They made a big mistake by going to the land of Kangaroos where there is a Kangaroo court presided over by the three blind Kangaroo judges,? said Gacal, formerly the chief legal counsel of dethroned World Boxing Organization Welterweight king Manny Pacquiao.

The three judges handed down the controversial unanimous decision victory in favor of the undeserving, dirty fighter Jeff Horn, who bullied his way to boxing stardom using, not his punches, but his sheer size advantage, elbows, head and shoulder.

You see, after the fight, Horn?s face was bloodied and deformed due to punishing blows coming from Pacquiao.

The whole sporting world, including celebrities and ordinary fans worldwide, condemned and ridiculed the unanimous decision.

One American boxing writer, who had covered Pacquiao?s biggest fights, except against Horn, said he judged the fight on TV, volume off, and had Pacquiao winning, 9-3.

The jaded writer from Sports Illustrated thought Horn won only three rounds.

Respected boxing promoter Lou Di Bella said, ?Three sixth-graders who had never seen a fight before would have been more accurate (scoring the fight).?

NBA greats Kobe Bryant and Chauncey Billups, including former heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis, just to name a few, scorned the decision.

The Kangaroo judges scored it 117-111, 115-113 and 115-113 all for Horn.

No doubt, the robbery had further plunged boxing to the abyss of shame.

It was viewed by many as nothing but a brazen conspiracy among the judges, the referee and Top Rank big boss Bob Arum.

The third man on the ring, Mark Nelson, seemingly had an eye problem. He did not see the dirty tactics employed by Horn.

The referee had neither deducted a point nor issued even a warning against Horn for using what appeared as mixed martial arts tactics which resulted to two headbutt injuries for Pacman.

Fighting dirty, Jeff Horn of Australia has been awarded a controversial unanimous decision win against defending WBO world welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, Australia Sunday afternoon. Top photo shows Pacquiao's face was unmarked after the fight compared to Horn's.

I could only gnash my teeth in dismay and anger while watching a bloody fight officiated by an incompetent and patently biased referee.

I could also sense that the shrewd promoter was trying to set up a big fight between his wards to discover a new cash cow.

Arum might be drooling thinking of more cash windfall if he could set up Jeff Horn-Terence Crawford title fight in Brisbane.

Arum?s shrewdness, greed for money and disregard for a boxer?s welfare is unmatched.

This kind of promoter is killing the sport. He is one of the reasons why boxing is a dying sport.

Right now MMA is taking over as a major contact sports attraction.

Now I could understand the many reasons behind Floyd Mayweather Jr?s dislike vis-?-vis Arum.

Good that Pacquiao?s fight contract with Top Rank is expiring. Without Arum, Pacquiao could possibly arrange a rematch between him and Mayweather.

Pacquiao is not yet an over-the-hill fighter. He?s still strong and fast. But he has to get enough rest and be open to new scientific training method.

Right now, I could see that he?s just relying on his own raw talent.

He can handle both job as lawmaker and boxer. He?s gifted -- a freak of nature, so to speak.

But he needs to get enough rest particularly at night to produce more growth hormones that would allow his body and muscles recover from injury or to replenish lost energy due to heavy training.

Sleeping during the day instead of doing it at night is like defying a natural law.

God created day and night with distinct purpose -- to allow man to earn a living during the day and to rest his mind, body and soul during the night.

Staying awake at night for so long will eventually take a heavy toll on our health condition as we grow older.
