OAKLAND -- The Golden State Warriors are back on top of the mountain.
Kevin Durant sizzled with 39 points while Steph Curry added 34 and 10 assists as the Warriors dethroned the Cleveland Cavaliers in five games after winning Game 5, 129-120 on Monday night at the Oracle Arena.
Durant, who picked up his first Larry O'Brien trophy, was also named the Finals MVP. He shot 14 of 20 field goals and added 7 rebounds and 5 assists to his Game 5 effort.
The deposed Cavs, behind LeBron James' 41 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists, put up a gallant fight. But the Warriors simply had too many weapons.
Klay Thompson had 11 points and 5 boards while Draymond Green pitched in 10 points, 12 boards and 10 dimes. Andre Iguodala was brilliant off the bench, scoring 20.
The Warriors shot 51.1 percent from the field (46-of-90) and 36.8 percent from 3-point distance (14-of-38). Golden State also made 23 of 28 free throws (82.1 percent).
Kyrie Irving finished with 26 points and and 6 assists while J.R. Smith drilled 7 of 8 triples for 25 points. KeVin Love didn't score in the first half but finished with 6 points and 10 rebounds.
