BATAWANG TITLE FIGHT POSTPONED AGAIN
By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Wed, 19 Sep 2007

Mandatory challenger Bert Batawang?s title fight against IBF champion Ulises Solis which was re-secheduled for October 4 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas has been postponed once again.
International matchmaker Sampson Lewkowicz has informed well-known promoter and manager Sammy Gello-ani of the famed ALA Boxing Gym that Solis would not be available to fight on October 4 because the doctor has "recommended that he stop training for the next two weeks" due a shoulder injury.
The fight was originally scheduled to take place on September 16 but was moved back to October 4 which was a disappointment to Batawang who had trained hard for the title shot.
Lewkowicz acknowledged the fact that Batawang who is 35 years old must feel disappointed but stressed "I hope this will give him more strength to continue training and achieve his goal of becoming the champion of the world."
In the face of the repeated postponements Gello-ani is mulling the option of asking the IBF to schedule the Filipino mandatory challenger in an interim title fight with the winner facing Solis at some future date.
Leokowicz promised however that they would re-schedule Batawang?s mandatory title shot against Solis "sometime in November."
The postponement also came as a disappointment to North American Boxing Federation super bantamweight champion Bernabe Concepcion whose manager Aljoe Jaro told Viva Sports/Manila Standard Today that his 19 year old prot?g? with an impressive 22-1-1, 12 knockout record was scheduled to fight on the Batawang-Solis undercard against Salvador Garcia who, according to boxrec.com has a record of 14-5-2 with 7 KO?s although Aljoe Jaro claimed Garcia had a much better record.
