ROMERO DUNO READY FOR U.S. DEBUT
PhilBoxing.com Fri, 03 Mar 2017

Romero Duno of Sanman gym is ready for his much-awaited debut in the United States on March 10 at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
Duno (12-1-0-11 KOs) is facing undefeated Mexican Christian ?Chimpa? Gonzalez (16-0, 14 KOs) for the vacant WBC Youth Intercontinental lightweight title.
?I?m ready to upset Gonzales. I will give all my best,? said Duno in his text message.
Duno is now already in finishing touches with his training at the Freddie Roach?s Wild Card Gym in Los Angeles, California.
Duno, who is being trained by former world champion Rodel Mayol, has sparred with tough fighters at the Wild Card Gym and has been running in the mountains of Griffith Park wherein 8-division world champion Manny Pacquiao also runs.
Sanman CEO Jim Claude Manangquil and CFO Dexter Tan are both flying to the US this week to give their support to Duno.
?Duno?s fight will be shown on TV 5 on March 12, Sunday at 1 p.m.,? said Manangquil.
Duno previously won by a 2nd round technical knockout against Gabby Simpo at the Robinson?s Mall Atrium in Gensan last Dec. 4.
Duno won the vacant WBC Asian Boxing Council super featherweight title via a 2nd round knockout win against Paiboon Lorkham last Sept. 10 in Tupi, South Cotabato.
Gonzales, on the other hand, has scored three knockouts in his four fights last year. The 21-year old native from Buena Park, California previously stopped Jonathan Perez in the 3rd round last Dec. 17 at the Forum in Inglewood, California.
His other knockout victims were Jonathan Corrales (2nd round) and David Rodela (1st round).
