Batawang and Quijano Take a Long Deserved Sunday Break

PhilBoxing.com

With his scheduled fight on September 16th still in limbo, Bert Batawang was feeling a little disappointment and wanted to do something for a change in an effort to keep his spirits up.

Batawang called this writer late yesterday morning and ask if it was possible to drive him and Quijano around to break the monotony of being cooped up in their apartment on Sundays.

So I took the two fellows around the Hollywood area they have not seen.

First stop was the fashionable shopping center close to the CBS Television City, the studio where most CBS shows done in the West Coast are produced. The place is called “The Groove”. The Groove is a lushly landscaped shopping mall with high end stores, eateries, cafes and numerous stores featuring some of the best items one can buy in Los Angeles. It is also right next door to the famous “Farmers Market” a conglomeration of different fast food restaurants and stalls selling fresh farm produce.

After hanging out at The Groove for a few hours and buying nothing but a single designer dark glasses for Batawang, we drove around Hollywood and ended at the Grumman’s Theater, a must destinations for tourists that flock in Hollywood all year round.

Grumman’s is famous for the hand and foot prints of famous entertainers frozen in concrete. The most famous of Hollywood stars from the 40’s to the present have their hand and foot prints preserved on the sidewalk of Grumman’s. The place is also the starting point of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the commemorative “stars” on the sidewalk bearing the names of famous Hollywood entertainers. The Walk of Fame covers a stretch of Hollywood Boulevard covering more than 5 miles.

Batawang and Quijano had a ball gawking at all the tourists that abound the two places we visited and seeing much of Hollywood. At five o‘clock, we decide to call it a day. After all, even if his fight on September 16th is in limbo, he still has to report at the Wildcard tomorrow to continue training.
