VARGAS WILL EAT HIS PRIDE

PhilBoxing.com

PASAY CITY ? A former fearless ring warrior believes that World Boxing Organization Welterweight king Jessie Vargas will eat his pride once he gets hit by a solid punch from Filipino boxing icon now Senator Manny Pacquiao.

?Manny Pacquiao is just too quick and a lot stronger compared to Vargas. Plus the fact that Pacman had already evolved as a complete fighter in terms of speed, power and skills,? Penalosa declared.

Penalosa, a two-division world boxing champion, knows exactly whereof he speaks. During his prime as a right fighter, he used to spar with Pacquiao.

?I used to spar with him at the Wild Card Gym as we prepared for our respective fight. But he had improved a lot since the last time we sparred,? Penalosa bared.

Penalosa, who earned the moniker ?fearless? for his non-stop fighting style and bravery atop the ring, described Pacquiao as a ?thing of beauty.?

?He?s a thing of beauty atop the ring. His body movement, including, his motley, agile and fancy footwork are beautiful to watch. The distinctive rhythmic sound of his punches, as he pummeled the mitts, the heavy bag, double-end bag and speed bag during rigorous training inside the gym, is like a sweet music to the ears. We will miss all this when time comes he finally decides to hang up his gloves,? Penalosa said.

Penalosa, once hailed as methodical Filipino prizefighter, had doubts whether Vargas would fight Pacquiao toe-to-toe.

?Kon mosukol siya?g bahug-bahog, lagmit matulog siya nga way unlan. Mao nay kinaham nga away ni Pacman (If he decides to fight toe-to-toe, he might get knocked out. Pacman prefers that kind of fight),? Penalosa said.

According to him, once Vargas is hit by a wicked punch coming from the eight-division world boxing champion, the Mexican-American would start running around the ring just like what Timothy Bradley and Floyd Mayweather had done.

The Pacquiao-Vargas fight, Penalosa said, would not last the distance.

?In terms of speed, the ratio is, three is to one in favor of Pacman. The speed and power of Pacquiao will be too much for Vargas. The way I see it, referee will stop the fight in the 8th round,? Penalosa said.

Mexicans are known to be brave and proud warriors.

But, Penalosa said, Vargas will eat his pride rather than suffer a devastating knockout from the hands of an equally proud Filipino boxing idol.
