SoCot town police chief sacked for threatening Bombo reporters By Aquiles Z. Zonio PhilBoxing.com Fri, 14 Oct 2016 GENERAL SANTOS CITY ? A town police chief in nearby Polomolok town, South Cotabato, was sacked from his post for threatening two radio reporters of dxES Bombo Radyo here. Senior Supt. Franklin Alvero, South Cotabato Provincial Police Director, immediately ordered on Thursday the relief of Chief Insp. Giovanni Ladeo, Polomolok town police chief, while investigation is being conducted by the provincial police. Luna Bernard Bacalanmo, chief of reporters of Bombo Radyo-Gensan, told Philboxing.com that on Thursday morning he went to Polomolok police station accompanied by his fellow reporter Edna Mendoza to interview Ladeo on the alleged VIP treatment being given to two arrested barangay officials linked to illegal drugs operation in the area. The two village officials were identified as Vicente Yungco, village chair of Barangay Poblacion and Juner Coronado, village chair of Barangay Koronadal Proper, all part of Polomolok town. Earlier this week, operatives of the PNP-Regional Anti-Illegal Drugs Task Force launched a separate raid on the houses of Yungco and Coronado by virtue of the search warrants issued by the local court. The raids were conducted following reports that the two village officials were involved in the proliferation of drugs in the area. The police managed to seize during the raids several firearms, bullets and a grenade. Bacalanmo and Mendoza went to Polomolok police to get the side of Ladeo but instead of granting an interview he was irked and indiscriminately fired his .9mm service pistol. The indiscriminate firing, ?though, took place not right in front of Bombo reporters but inside the dining hall of Polomolok Police station. Bacalanmo bared that Ladeo even challenged him to a gun duel. ?We have a voice recording to prove it,? Bacalanmo claimed. Ladeo later during the day went to Bombo Radyo-Gensan to apologize to Bacalanmo and Mendoza. Ladeo justified firing his handgun by saying it was not intended to threaten Bombo Radyo reporters. He claimed he fired his service pistol ?Just to scare a homeless cat.? Bacalanmo vowed to pursue the case against the police officer to teach him a good lesson. Alvero assured Bombo Radyo-Gensan that he?s not going to condone the abusive acts of his subordinate. In fact, Alvero added, a new police chief had already been assigned to replace Ladeo as Polomolok municipal police station chief. Click here to view a list of other articles written by Aquiles Z.
