Battle for Supremacy Fighters Make Weight
By Epifanio M. Almeda PhilBoxing.com Fri, 24 Aug 2007

The main event fighters in the Philippines vs. Japan Battle for Supremacy to be held tomorrow at the Mall of Asia easily met their respective weight limits at their first tries at the Games & Amusements Board Office at Paseo de Roxas, Makati City early this afternoon.
Filipino champion Randy Suico will defend his OPBF lightweight crown against Japanese challenger Koji Samejima. Likewise, Filipino champion Jimrex Jaca will try to retain his WBO Asia Pacific 130-lb belt against Japanese challenger Ryu Miyagi.
The weigh-in was supervised by GAB Commissioner Angel P. Bautista and GAB Boxing Chief Dr. Nasser Cruz. WBO Asia Pacific Vice President Leon Panoncillo and well known Japanese promoter and sportswriter Joe Koizumi witnessed the event.
The 4-fight Phil-Jap match-up also pits Filipino Wendel Janiola against Japanese Hirotaka Hisataka at 117 lbs and Filipino Jun Plasidad against Japanese Noriyuki Komatsu at 118 lbs.
Shortly after the weigh-in, Commissioner Bautista presided over a meeting where Dr. Cruz and Mr. Panoncillo explained the OPBF & WBO championship fight rules to the assigned referees and judges of the main event fights.
This fight card is a must see for fight fans as the fighters will fight not only for themselves but for their countries as well. This added motivation will surely ignite in the fighters more fire to make this event memorable for everyone.
