Japanese entrepreneur sets launching of Pacquiao Gym in November

PhilBoxing.com

PASAY CITY ? A Japanese businessman, who is an avid fan of Senator Manny Pacquiao, will open a boxing gym in Tokyo, Japan, sometime in November.

The health & fitness centre, located right at the splendid downtown Tokyo, was named ?Pacquiao Gym? by no less than its owner Yoshihiro Agata.

Agata, who made a courtesy call to Senator Pacquiao on Tuesday, traveled all the way from Tokyo to extend the invitation to the fighting senator.

Agata acquired the franchise to open up a Pacquiao gym when the Filipino sports icon travelled to Japan in September last year.

?I am pleased to inform you that finally the Pacquiao Gym in Tokyo will be launched end of September,? Agata told Sen. Pacquiao.

The senator from Mindanao, however, told Agata he will not be available until his scheduled ring duel on Nov. 5 against World Boxing Organization Welterweight king Jessie Vargas is over.

?Maybe, we can reset the date sometime in mid or late November. I can go there on official business,? Pacquiao told his Japanese visitor.

Aside from an invitation to grace the launching ceremony of the Pacquiao Gym, the Filipino boxer-lawmaker has also a pending offer from a member of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party to visit Japan.

?I knew that you are very busy but, without your presence, I cannot possibly go on with the launching of the Pacquiao Gym,? Agata stressed.

Agata further informed Senator Pacquiao that JTB, the biggest tour company in Japan, will be sponsoring his November visit.

The Japanese travel & tour firm, according to Agata, had also expressed its intention to watch live Senator Pacquiao?s Nov. 5 boxing match in Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Agata revealed that JTB was also interested in staging Senator Pacquiao?s fight in Japan possibly next year.

?I am expecting a positive outcome when the good senator and JTB meet and discuss the staging of his fight next year in Tokyo,? the Japanese businessman said.

He said he is ready to give the Filipino ring sensation all the support needed for his training camp once the latter agrees to fight in Japan.

Senator Pacquiao has gained a huge fan base in Japan due to his self-effacing persona, exciting fighting style and unrivaled boxing record in history.
