WEIGHTS FROM CALIFORNIA: NIETES ? 112 LBS., SOSA ? 111.5 LBS.; JIMENEZ 1 LB OVERWEIGHT

EAGLE ROCK, CA ? Filipino two-division world champion Donnie 'Ahas' Nietes weighed in at the flyweight limit of 112 lbs while former world champion Edgar Sosa of Mexico came in at 111.5 lbs during the official weighin in front of a highly partisan mostly Filipino crowd held at the Eagle Rock Plaza Mall here Friday noon (early Saturday in Manila) as the 'Philippines vs Mexico' boxing event is all systems go at the StubHub Center Saturday afternoon.

Nietes (38-1-4, 22KOs), who is fighting for the first time as a flyweight, and Sosa (52-9-0, 30KOs) will contest the WBO international flyweight title for 12 rounds.

In the main undercard, Mark 'Magnifico' Magsayo (14-0-0, 11KOs) of the Philippines stepped the scales at 125.5 lbs while Ramiro Robles (13-5-1, 8KOs) of Mexico weighed in at 123.5 lbs. Magsayo will defend his WBO international featherweight title against Robles scheduled for 12 rounds.

In a rematch for the WBO Asia Pacific bantamweight championship scheduled for 12 rounds, 'King' Arthur Villanueva (29-1-0, 15KOs) weighed in at 117.5 lbs while Juan 'Pineta' Jimenez (22-10-0, was overweight on the first try, coming in at 119.5 lbs., 1.5 lbs above the 118 lbs bantamweight limit. He was given 2 hours to shed the excess weight but still came in overweight at 119 lbs when he returned to the scales about an hour later. Upon the advise of the physician after examining Jimenez, he was not allowed to shed more weights. According to the rules, Jimenez will wear a heavier 10 oz gloves on fight night and if he beats Villanueva, the belt will be declared vacant.

The weighin for the WBO sanctioned fights was supervised by WBO supervisor Richard DeCuir.

4 rounds junior middleweight (154 lbs): Cesar Hernandez ? 159 lbs vs Martin Murillo ? 153 lbs.


4 rounds junior middleweight (154 lbs): Ezra Hernandez ? 155.5 lbs vs Abraham Calderon Ruiz ? 154 lbs.
