MEXICO'S FOREIGN MINISTRY AND WBC SIGN AGREEMENT FOR "BOXING WITHOUT FRONTIERS - TWO NATIONS ONE DREAM" PROGRAM

PhilBoxing.com

The Mexican Foreign Ministry through its Counsel General in Chicago and the Institute of Mexicans Abroad, have proudly signed an historic agreement with the World Boxing Council to launch the "Boxing without frontiers: Two nations - One dream" Program.

The WBC notes that ?Its aim includes social and professional development in Acapulco and other Mexican cities, linked in with Chicago, Illinois, USA, preparing and transforming hopefuls into participants in a Grand Tournament. Boxing without Frontiers is an integrated program which includes training clinics, motivational speeches, psych emotional treatment, boxing exhibitions, meet and greet sessions plus social work by the participants.?

The agreement was signed by the General Counsel of Mexico in Chicago, Carlos Mart?n Jimenez Macias and WBC representative, Mr. Miguel Ernesto Lopez.

The WBC Internet site reports that ?The memorable event was attended by World Boxing Council President, Mr. Mauricio Sulaiman, General Strategy Director of the Institute of Mexicans Abroad Pablo Vazquez, representatives of Mexico City and Acapulco governments, plus former WBC lightweight champion David Diaz who lost his WBC lightweight title in a 9th round knockout to the Philippines Manny Pacquiao who went on to win eight world titles in eight different divisions, WBC International Champion Fres Oqeundo, as well as former WBC International champions Andrzej Fonfara and Brooke Dierdorf.?

Strategy Director General of the Institute of Mexicans Abroad, Pablo Vazquez, explained the program`s main goal is ?to contribute to human and professional development of all the youth in Mexico and USA, but also, to serve as a link for cooperation and integration among the communities of both countries.?

WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman, mentioned that a group of boys and girls, from 9 to 12 years, and teenagers, from 13 to 17 years, will participate in this program that will reach many important stages, as boxing is a Mexican sport...the sport which has brought most Olympic medals, and most world champions to the country.

The agreement signing ceremony in Chicago was the second official event to present the Program. North America Under Secretary of Mexican Foreign Relations, Paulo Carre?o King, travelled to Acapulco, heading a boxing clinic prior to the official start, which will be next month.
