Sen. Pacquiao?s Housing Project turned over to poor beneficiaries By Aquiles Z. Zonio PhilBoxing.com Fri, 29 Jul 2016 GLAN, Sarangani ? Mila Danding, 29, did not expect even in her wildest imagination that one day she could live in a decent house and lot she can call her own. During the recent turn-over ceremony of EDP Village in the outskirt village of Tango, Glan, Sarangani Province, Danding was emotional. Mila got married at tender age of 16. For 13 long years, Mila, now a mother to five children, claimed owning a decent home was just a dream. Mila?s husband is jobless and his meager income as farm worker could hardly make both ends meet. She described her family situation as a virtual hand-to-mouth existence. But Mila never gave up hope. She kept on praying that one day her family can find and live in a house ?We can call our own.? Mila?s prayers were answered, not directly, but through Sen. Emmanuel D. Pacquiao who bankrolled the housing project in the area. Sen. Pacquiao linked up with the Habitat for Humanity to provide shelter to homeless residents in the area. The plan was to put up a total of 78 low-cost housing units in the area. Initially, 16 houses were completed and were recently turned over to qualified beneficiaries. The construction of the remaining 62 units is still ongoing. Sen. Pacquiao told the beneficiaries during the simple turn-over ceremony. The EDP Housing Project has a total cost of around P9.4 million pesos. Each housing unit costs around P120,000. Photo: Senator Emmanuel D.
