Boxing is not a priority ? Sen. Pacquiao By Aquiles Z. Zonio PhilBoxing.com Thu, 14 Jul 2016 GENERAL SANTOS CITY ? Senator Manny Pacquiao had pointed out that his job as legislator is his top priority, not boxing. Sen. Pacquiao clarified there?s no truth to media reports that he is planning to take a leave of absence in preparation for his next fight. ?I want to make it clear ? my priority is my legislative works,? Sen. Pacquiao said in a statement. Sen. Pacquiao revealed that his next fight has not yet been discussed, adding that ?Should there be any, I?ll make sure it will not interfere with my Senate duties.? According to him, if he decides to fight again, it will happen when Congress is on recess. ?The entire training will be done in the Philippines to ensure I can attend sessions even while on training camp,? Sen. Pacquiao added. The Senator from Sarangani said he?s not going to renege on his campaign promise. He promised during the campaign that, if ever he?s given the chance to win, he?s going to attend in all sessions of the Senate. ?I owe it to the people,? he stressed. He claimed that boxing is his only means of livelihood to support his family and to help particularly those in need. He considers politics as a vocation, not a means to eke out a living. Many politicians were gobbled up by the system just a few years after joining politics. Sen. Pacquiao, however, vowed to keep his dignity intact, emphasizing that ?One can be a public servant without being corrupt.? Photo: Sen. Emmanuel D.
