WBO ASIA PACIFIC FLYWEIGHT TITLE CHALLENGER REPLACED By Ronnie Nathanielsz PhilBoxing.com Thu, 26 Jul 2007 WBO Asia Pacific chairman Leon Panoncillo has replaced the Thai challenger who was scheduled to battle undefeated WBO Asia Pacific flyweight champion Drian Francisco at the Elorde Sports Complex on August 4. The boxer was replaced after Viva Sports questioned the fight record of Paiton Ploysakda which was reported as 16-4-2 with 4 knockouts but was found to be a mere 3-3 with 0 KO’s once again raising the ugly reality of fake results. In an email to Viva Sports, Panoncillo said he had replaced the questioned fighter with Wanmeechok Singwangcha who has a record of 16 wins and 5 losses with 11 knockouts. A well-known boxing journalist in Thailand informed Viva Sports that as far as he knows Singwangcha fighters "don’t resort to faking results and tend to be well-known." The boxing writer said he had seen some of Wanmeechok Singwangcha’s fights and from what he knows and has seen he is "as legitimate as can be." Panoncillo said the challenger to WBO Intercontinental light flyweight champion Rexon Flores, Salt Phetchinda has a record of 9-4-1 with 2 knockouts and that matchmaker Kittiphong Kuiyarat/Michael Do had sent him the fight record of Phetichanda and claimed it was "verified by the Thai Boxing Commission." Panoncillo made the statement after Viva Sports also questioned the record of Phetchinda. The WBO official said "Commission and original documents copies would be given to me during the weigh-in" adding that he will honor the record since boxrec "doesn’t have a confirmation" and that he would "not approve the bout without the TBC Commission letter" which would include medical clearance, verification of the fight record and a letter authorizing the fighter (Phetchinda) to participate." The Thai boxer’s record was not available on the boxrec site because Viva Sports was informed it had been removed on suspicion that the results were fake or included Muay Thai fight results.
