Voters craving to see Pacquiao in the campaign trail By Aquiles Z. Zonio PhilBoxing.com Tue, 22 Mar 2016 GENERAL SANTOS CITY ? People in different areas in the Visayas are longing to catch a glimpse of world eight-division boxing champ and senatorial aspirant Manny Pacquiao. This was revealed by Joseph Sta. Teresa, one of the trusted aides of Pacquiao, who is overseeing the campaign operation of Pacquiao in the Visayas area. ?Wherever we go ? in Cebu, Bohol, Negros, Leyte, etc. ? people are asking where is Manny Pacquiao. We just told them that he?s still in the training camp for his scheduled rubber match on April 10 (Philippine time) with Timothy Bradley,? Sta. Teresa bared. Sta. Teresa claimed that since the start of the campaign period, they have not yet encountered anyone who is critical of Pacquiao?s senatorial bid. ?We have not yet experienced being rebuffed by anybody while campaigning for or distributing campaign materials of Manny Pacquiao,? Sta. Teresa claimed. Sta. Teresa, however, admitted that many people are not yet aware that Pacquiao is running for senator in the coming May elections. Pacquiao has not yet showed up in any provincial sortie of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) led by UNA presidential standard bearer Vice Pres. Jejomar Binay. But Pacquiao attended in the opening salvo of UNA campaign held in Malabon early last month. From then on, he was busy preparing for his third ring encounter with Bradley, current titleholder of World Boxing Organization (WBO) Welterweight crown, scheduled on April 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada. ?Many of those we encountered were not yet aware that Pacquiao is running for senator. But upon learning that Pacquiao is one of the senatorial candidates, they vowed to support him because they believed in his capability and sincerity to serve,? Sta. Teresa added. In fact, Sta. Teresa added Pacquiao?s campaign materials are warmly received by the people in many places in the Visayas where they visited to distribute it. ?What we have encountered, so far, is just the lack of campaign materials. In places where we traveled to distribute Pacquiao?s campaign paraphernalia, we always run out of supply. Before flying to Los Angeles where the final stage of his training camp will be held, Pacquiao made a promise to campaign doubly hard when he returns home after the fight. ?I?m fighting for the honor and glory of our country. I believe, my countrymen will understand my situation and my sacrifices,? Pacquiao told reporters here a few hours before his flight more than a week ago.
