PACQUIAO SAYS HE WILL RETIRE AFTER THE BRADLEY FIGHT By Aquiles Z. Zonio PhilBoxing.com Tue, 05 Jan 2016 GENERAL SANTOS CITY ? Boxing great Manny Pacquiao declared his April 9 third encounter with World Boxing Organization Welterweight king Timothy Bradley will be his last. ?My April 9 fight against Timothy Bradley will be my last. I?m retiring from boxing to focus on my new job,? Pacquiao told Philboxing.com during an interview in his mansion-2 on Monday evening. Pacquiao was confident of winning the senatorial race citing results of a series of surveys conducted separately by Pulse Asia and Social Weather Stations (SWS). ?Consistent ?yong ranking natin sa mga surveys. Among the top 10, palagi tayong nasa no. 7 or no. 8. I expect na aakyat pa ang ranking natin lalo na ?pag naikot natin ang buong bansa,? Pacquiao said. Pacquiao wanted to clarify reports quoting him as saying he?s not retiring unless he gets a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr. ?Wala akong sinabing ganun. Wala namang nag-interview sa? kin tungkol diyan. Pagkatapos ng laban ko sa April 9, magreretiro na ako sa boxing,? Pacquiao stressed. Meanwhile, Pacquiao has started his physical conditioning by jogging inside the covered court at his mansion-2 late Monday afternoon. ?Iilang ikot lang. Pagkatapos nun, I did some sprints. Then, I played basketball. It?s my way of keeping myself in good shape to maintain my speed and stamina,? Pacquiao said. After undergoing surgery last May to repair torn right shoulder rotator cup, Pacquiao went through self-rehabilitation to expedite his recovery. The Pinoy ring idol had started playing basketball in September after confirming through medical check-up that his right shoulder injury had already healed. Pacquiao was spending his spare time playing billiard, dart and chess, aside from scuba diving and basketball. Before going to bed and after waking up, Pacquiao sets aside a minimum of one hour reading the Holy Bible. ?Kailangan balanced yong lifestyle natin. We need to strengthen not just our physical and mental faculties but most especially the spiritual aspect of our being,? Pacquiao said. Photo: Pacman and his diving buddy, Mario Arias.
