Pacman: Age is not an obstacle in my 3rd fight vs. Bradley

PhilBoxing.com

GENERAL SANTOS CITY ? World eight-division boxing champion and Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao said age is not an obstacle in his third ring encounter with World Boxing Organization Welterweight title holder Timothy Bradley.

?I?m still young and I feel strong. We will train hard for this fight so we can handle whatever our opponent may bring to the table,? Pacquiao said in an interview with Philboxing.com.

Pacquiao said his training camp would start most probably on first week of February.

The Filipino ring icon expressed his desire to train here for the first four weeks then spend the remaining four weeks in the United States.

Pacquiao?s Canadian adviser Mike Koncz, however, opposed the idea claiming that the Filipino boxing phenom could hardly focus if his training is held here due to lots of distractions.

?February is already the start of electoral campaign in the Philippines and we expect so many distractions if he (Pacquiao) trains here. We could hardly prevent his supporters and political allies from disturbing him since he is also a politician. So, I suggest let?s hold the entire training camp in the US. That?s, to my mind, is the best thing to do,? Koncz said.

Koncz traveled back to the US last Dec. 21 to spend the Christmas vacation with his family. He is expected to be back in the Philippines on January 9.

Pacquiao observed that Bradley, under his new trainer Teddy Atlas, had metamorphosed from being a boxer into an aggressive fighter.

?I noticed that under his new trainer, Bradley had become quite aggressive. Unlike when he was still under the watch of trainer Joel Diaz,? Pacquiao said.

During his last fight against slugger Brandon ?Bambam? Rios, Bradley stood his ground and engaged his Mexican-American foe toe-to-toe.

Bradley knocked Rios out in the ninth round and brought home the WBO Welterweight crown.

?If Bradley would maintain that kind of fighting style, the boxing fans can expect lots of fireworks during the fight. That?s what I want,? Pacquiao said.

Pacquiao, who is gunning for a Senate sit in the 2016 May elections, expressed confidence that his absence in the campaign trail owing to his scheduled fight against Bradley would not derail his dream of winning a seat in the higher legislative chamber.

?I am fighting to entertain the fans and to bring honor to our country. I believe, the people would understand and appreciate what I am doing,? Pacquiao said.
