THIS ONE'S FOR RIPLEY'S: INDO PROMOTER STILL MAKING PROMISES!
PhilBoxing.com Wed, 20 Jun 2007
Palilaya (L) poses with Chris John.
Believe this or not.
One would think after he was replaced as promoter-on-record for the July 7 Muhammad Rachman-Florante Condes IBF duel in Jakarta, that Albert Papilaya would just quitely slide away and keep a low profile. That's what anybody with still an iota of decency left in him would normally do.
But this Papilaya, apparently, is not anybody.
"Even until yesterday, he keeps promising to pay at 11:00 AM, and he just talked bull***t," said a Jakarta source, who is privy to the goings-on.
According to the source, the manager of Rachman, Martinez Dos Santos, who is a normally level-headed person, would now always swear everytime Papilaya's name is being mentioned.
"The words such 'monkey', 'pig, 'dog' are typical swearing words, and he usually never talks bad, but he has the priviledge to say those words now," said the source, a veteran boxing manager based in Jakarta.
Reports coming out of Jakarta indicate that the July 7 fight has been confirmed, and RCTI television will cover the fight.
The Ministry of Youth and Sport reportedly will announce its next course of action when still nothing happens today, as Team Rachman has already reported Papilaya's irresponsible action, and legal actions by the government may be in the offing.
