SAVE YOUR $75 (PART 2) By Anthony 'Duljoman' Andales PhilBoxing.com Tue, 08 Sep 2015 MAYORGA ENTERTAINED US? Once again Mayorga delivered the goods, the satisfaction, the crave for some action, the all out psyche war. Mayorga, the son of Nicaragua, lost to Mosley for the second time -- and nobody regrets that they spend time watching a Mayorga fight. A loss is a loss, but as a boxer who doesn't demand PPV money, Mayorga didn?t steal money from us, though he delivered the goods. It's worth our time and money. Remember his clash with Tito Trinidad, Ferocious Vargas, Oscar, Lewis, Forrest I-II? HATE! A real strong word hey! Mayweather has thousands of fans, they buy the PPV. On the same token, when Mayweather beat his ex-GF or ex-wife in front of his children, when he burned few hundred dollar bills, he also got lots of haters. Agree? And those thousands of haters buy PPV too, anticipating Mayweather to forget his shoulder roll and will hit by a timely punch. So, to add the fans + the haters + opponent's fans (De la Hoyas, Pacquiaos, Canelos) = Millions of ppv buys. If we minus the haters, that PPV numbers would be drastically lower. Should Pay per View be directly proportional to entertainment? Normally PPV is between $40-$50, then we get super match-ups, GGG-Lemiuex, Canelo-Cotto, those sort of fights where we can guarantee it?s gonna satisfy our craving of pure boxing entertainment. Now if that PPV goes up from $50 to $100, we should get twice of contentment right? But Mayweather proved as wrong, again and again. When was the last time Mayweather gave us full value of our money? The answer is when his fights were still free, the time of his lightweight days, I?m talking here 15 yrs ago, when he TKOd Corrales, Gatti, when he was squeezed by Castillo, Corley? those were the times when Mayweather still got a KO power, that was the time when he still engaged and put some bad intention behind those punches. Now Mayweather, raised the bar, but not the action, he raised the prize of PPV. I talked to some random folks at the pool this past weekend, asked them if they want to buy the expensive PPV Mayweather-Berto. The most common answers was ?NO! WE DON?T WANNA WATCH ANOTHER 12 ROUND OF DANCING WITH THE STARS AGAIN.? But some answered with, ?I DON?T CARE, I?LL CHIP IN IF YOU GUYS ARE BUYING PPV, I CANT WAIT TO SEE IF SOMEBODY CAN LAND THAT ONE PUNCH, JUST ONE PUNCH AND PUT MAYWEATHER TO SLEEP.? Mayweather did the opposite, instead we get improved actions since the price of his PPV doubled. People were dismayed because they got a lower value for their money, a 12 round of dancing with the stars so to speak. But as I have said, do not underestimate the power of hate, those guys will buy anyways, they don?t wanna miss that one time punch. PPV for the Mayweather fight is almost $80, save that one and split that money, you buy the cheaper but guaranteed leisure Oct 17 GGG vs Lemiuex and Nov 21 the Cotto-Alvaraez clash of Mexico vs Puerto Rico. THESE ARE NO DANCING WITH THE STARS! Oh!BeerTime! Congratulations to Gilas for bagging the Silver in Jones Cup, now its time for the real deal, the FIBA qualifying for 2016 Rio Olympics, it can be reach!?? was so sad to see my Michigan Filipino league teammate Kelly Williams got injured, Coach Jonas Pozon (best coach in Michigan) said get well soon Son? every time Donald Trump got hit with an issue his numbers in poll go up!... people are still hoping the Davao Mayor will officially declare his candidacy soon, I mean sooner the better? Pope is coming to US, nobody is talking about it, Kardashians made it to the headline though! Happy Fiesta to my Kinder to High School parish, St. Nicholas!!! Shaun Marco Andales is 18 (Sept 10), and my youngest Joseph Arman is 3 (Sept 11). Click here to view a list of other articles written by Anthony 'Duljoman' Andales. |
