SAMPSON BOXING SIGNS TOP UNDEFEATED LIGHT FLYWEIGHT CONTENDER ERICK BADILLO TO CO-PROMOTIONAL CONTRACT PhilBoxing.com Thu, 03 Apr 2025 ![]() April 2, 2025 – Promoter Sampson Lewkowicz proudly announces the signing of top-rated junior flyweight contender Erick Badillo (17-0, 8 KOs) to a co-promotional agreement, along with Mexico-based promoter Eric Ibarra of TM Boxing. Currently ranked WBC #2 and WBA #8, Badillo turned professional in 2018 and captured the WBC Silver Light Flyweight Championship with a TKO 5 over then-undefeated (13-0-2) Neider Valdez Aguilar in March 2024. The 29-year-old Badillo, known for his relentless aggression and excellent body attack, was last seen scoring an eight-round unanimous decision over Miguel Angel Herrera in November of last year. Badillo says he hopes the signing will help lead to him his dream of a world title shot against WBC champion Panya Pradabsri or WBA champion Erick Rosa, who won his title with a unanimous 12-round decision over previous Badillo knockout victim Neider Valdez Aguilar last December. “I thank Mr. Sampson Lewkowicz for the opportunity he gives me to join his team,” said a happy Badillo. “I’m grateful to God for the opportunities he gives me by putting the right people in my path. I also thank my co-promoter, Eric Ibarra, for his support and tireless dedication in my career. I'm excited and ready to take on challenges and make it to the world championship this year. Thank you for believing in me.” “A few weeks ago, we talked about the signing of Isaac Lucero and today we announce the alliance with Erick Badillo,” added Ibarra. “This speaks for itself about the excellent relationship and trust that exists between Sampson and I. Sampson is like a mentor to me; every time we talk, I learn something. Expect great things from Erick Badillo!” Lewkowicz, known for spotting undiscovered ring talent, says Badillo, who has never fought outside his native Mexico, is a hidden gem in the light flyweight division, with a long and distinguished career ahead of him. “This is a very talented young man who will very soon become known around the world as a top fighter,” said Lewkowicz. “Thank you to my partner, Eric Ibarra, for his excellent work in developing a stable of future stars in boxing. We will get to work on landing Erick a shot at the world title.” ![]() |
