AFTER BACK TO BACK DEFEATS, USJ-R JAGUARS VENT THEIR FRUSTRATIONS ON CIT-U WILDCATS By Michael Kenji Izumi PhilBoxing.com Wed, 12 Aug 2015 CEBU CITY: Following back to back defeats including a last-minute forfeiture the University of San Jose Recoletos Jaguars vented their frustrations on a hapless Cebu Institute of Technology Wildcats squad with a 102-71 rout in the on-going Cebu Schools Athletic Association Inc., (CESAFI) basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum on Tuesday. The Jaguars faced a resilient Wildcats squad in the first half only managing to lead 18-13 at the end of the first quarter before going into the locker room with a 42-34 halftime spread. However, in the second half the Jaguars offensive rhythm fell into place as they put on a clinic to race to a 75-51 lead at the end of the third quarter before finishing with a 102-71 tally at the final buzzer. Lanky Kevin Villafranca was joined by Ralph Dinolan in sparking the Jaguars second half blitz with Villafranca?s 24 points and big 14 rebounds to go along with 5 steals and 2 blocks earning him the ?Best Player of the Game? honors from TV panelists Rico Navarro and Sandi Grumo in the game telecast at 7:00 p.m. over a resurgent IBC 13. Dinolan finished with 20 points and 5 rebounds. Mark Labares with 13 points and Jaybie Mantilla with 10, added to the Jaguars tally. CIT Wildcats Joshua Dela Cerna led all scorers with 25 points in addition to pulling down 10 boards while Jose Allan Dimco contributed 11 points in a losing effort. In the Juniors Division the CIT Wildkittens survived a huge scare by the Cebu Eastern College Dragons before escaping with a 87-62 victory with Jasper Berezo leading the Wildkittens with 26 points, 4 rebounds and 5 steals.
