By Phil Hatzitheodorou PhilBoxing.com Wed, 22 Jul 2015

CHICAGO -- Collecting championships is a way of life in San Antonio. And so Monday night in Las Vegas, the Spurs added a Summer League title to their impressive collection.
Jonathan Simmons, who also walked away with the tournament MVP award, finished with 23 points as the Spurs outlasted the Phoenix Suns, 93-90, at the Thomas and Mack Center. Treveon Graham added 22 for San Antonio while Kyle Anderson had 15 points, 7 rebounds 4 assists.
The Spurs, who finished the Summer League with a 6-1 slate overall, shot 40. 3 percent from the field (31 of 77 field goals) and 27.8 percent from 3-point range (5-of-18). The Spurs were outrebounded 40-139 but they issued more assists, 14-11, while committing four less turnovers with 14.
The Spurs accomplished the championship feat while making history as having the first-ever female Summer League head coach in Becky Hammon.
"It was a grind. They've been together for 17 days. They really started to jell the last two of there days. They listened, and they played really hard for me. I just really appreciate their attentiveness and alertness. They were tired but they fought through," Hammon told ESPN.
Mike James paced the Suns with a game-high 32 points. T.J. Warren accounted for 17 while Archie Goodwin added 12. Devin Booker added 10 more while Alex Len contributed 9.
Phoenix finished Summer League play with a 5-2 won-lost record.
