SENIESA ESTRADA RETURNS ON MAY 16 HBO BOXING CARD

Estrada will represent women?s boxing on the HBO World Championship Boxing card, featuring Gennady ?GGG? Golovkin, at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

EAST LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, U.S.A. ? On Saturday night, May 16, 2015, undefeated 22-year-old flyweight women?s professional boxer Seniesa Estrada (East Los Angeles, CA/pro record: 3-0-0, 1 KO) faces Carly Batey (United Kingdom/pro record: 4-4-2, 0 KOs) in a six-round, non-televised, undercard bout on the HBO World Championship Boxing card at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The HBO Boxing card is presented by K2 Promotions and GGG Promotions, in association with Banner Promotions. In the televised main event, Gennady ?GGG? Golovkin (32-0, 29 KOs) will defend his WBA/IBO and interim WBC Middleweight World Titles against Willie Monroe (19-1, 6 KOs).
Estrada, a Mexican-American, last fought on March 14, 2014, when she defeated Blanca Raymundo via second round knockout. Seniesa had a lengthy amateur career, compiling an impressive record of 97-4. She currently works with boxing trainer Dean Campos at Gamboa Boxing & Fitness, located in Whittier, California. Campos also trains middleweight contender Sergio ?The Latin Snake? Mora.
Dean Campos said, ?Seniesa has been dedicated in the gym and is prepared for her fight. Carly Batey is physically bigger, and has fought at bigger weight classes, but Seniesa is stronger, and more skilled. We?re grateful for the opportunity to be on such a great card and looking forward to showing everyone what Seniesa can do. It is a great opportunity for her to help women?s boxing gain exposure.?
Seniesa Estrada said, ?I am very thankful to fight so close to home on May 16 at the Forum. Being on such a great card with the talented GGG is terrific exposure for myself and women?s boxing. I have been working hard in the gym and look forward to putting on a great performance. My opponent, Carly Batey, is coming all the way from the UK. I know she is coming to fight and will give it her all. I am prepared physically and mentally and ready to display my skills and talent.?
Estrada discussed the current state of women's boxing in the United States. ?I?m working very hard in the gym, and I?ve built a great team around me. My success depends on the work I do, both inside and outside the gym, plus the support I receive from the boxing fans, significant promoters, and the major networks. I have put fifteen years of hard work into women?s boxing. Ronda Rousey has become a star in the UFC, and I believe those same accomplishments are possible in professional boxing. It has been very difficult finding fight opportunities in the U.S. Every week, there are boxing cards all over the country, however, few have women featured on them. In almost every boxing gym, you can find women training along with the men.
I believe women can be superstars, too. We just need a chance to show what we can do. Self-promotion and selling tickets are easier when you have the backing of a major promoter or the promise of getting television time. Getting on a stacked card like the one on May 16 is a great start. I can?t wait to participate in the promotional opportunities that come with a fight of this magnitude. GGG is a rising star and a great ambassador for my sport. I?m honored to share the stage with him.?
