Roger Mayweather Stinks Up Last Mayweather vs De La Hoya Presser

PhilBoxing.com

It was the last press conference before one of the biggest fights in boxing history. The two warriors are in the room, Mayweather and De La Hoya. The Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach on one side, and Pretty Boy Floyd's trainer/uncle Roger Mayweather on the other side.

When Roger Mayweather approached the podium, nobody in the room was expecting him to go on a several minute tirade, and throw children's insults at Freddie Roach. And to make matters even worse, this guy took it to a new low by insulting the late Eddie Futch in the process.

To disdainfully describe Freddie Roach, a two time trainer of the year, and hall of fame inductee as ?the punching bag over there?, and to make idiotic remarks such as, ?Eddie Futch didn't do shit, he never made a fighter?, was probably the most ignorant comments I have ever heard coming from a so called professional boxing trainer.

The late and great Mr Eddie Futch trained 20 world champions, he lived his last days loving the sport of boxing, he gave his life to boxing. To have someone like Roger Mayweather spit in the face of a boxing legend like Eddie Futch was just hard to listen to. How many world champions has Roger Mayweather trained? I am guessing, one? And with the natural talent of Floyd Mayweather Jr, I probably could have trained Floyd throughout his career, and had close to the same results.

Roger Mayweather (at the podium) held up the De la Hoya vs Mayweather presscon with a long tirade and insults against Freddie Roach (left, top row) and Roach's mentor the legendary trainer Eddie Futch as others were taken aback with amusement. Photo by Dong Secuya.

Mayweather continued with his ignorance for several minutes, while Freddie Roach, and the entire De La Hoya team looked on puzzled by it all. Even some of the Mayweather team were scratching their heads with what was being said. Freddie Roach had this to say in response, ?What did Eddie Futch ever do to this guy? He asked, ?I guess it was just because he was my trainer.?
