AMIR?S ENVY & DESPAIR?

PhilBoxing.com

LOS ANGELES ? Welterweight boxer Amir Khan is in the grip of a green-eyed monster.

Khan was dying to get a fight against the two boxing superstars ? world eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao and undefeated American fighter Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

When Mayweather chose Pacquiao, Khan became even more jealous.

Now he?s blabbing about what he perceived as flaws in the armor of Manny Pacquiao. He?s all praises to Mayweather obviously to catch everybody?s attention.

Why begrudge Pacquiao for getting the fight of the century?

Khan was nothing but a second fiddle when he was training with Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Boxing Gym.

Manny Pacquiao was the star pupil of Roach and Khan didn?t like that. He was feeling bitter.

Out of sheer envy and despair, Khan left and hired the services of a new trainer.

While training at the Wild Card Gym, Khan was treated with respect not only by Roach but including Pacquiao.

They became close friends and out of compassion and respect as his stable mate, Pacquiao used to withhold his punches during their sparring sessions.

I could recall one incident in Baguio City, Philippines, when Pacquiao sent Khan to the canvas with a left straight to the chin.

Pacquiao then was preparing for a scheduled fight in the US.

Khan was insistent to spar with Pacquiao and so Roach consented.

Pacquiao is a fearless fighter with a soft heart. He doesn?t want to hurt anyone especially his friends.

Since the exodus of Khan and his team from the Wild Card Gym, Pacquiao has never said anything bad against him.

Khan was different. Consuming envy is gobbling up his heart. His tirades against Pacquiao clearly showed what kind of mortal he is.

Khan doesn?t even know how to value friendship, which is one of the hallmarks of a childish, weak and lesser fighter.

I don?t have an iota of doubt, he?s no match either against Pacquiao or Mayweather. Khan?s fighting style is far from being polished.

He is spewing diatribes just to promote his upcoming dog and pony show.

Khan must examine his character for him to grow as a better person. He should know how to temper if not swallow his own hubris and wait for his own time to unfurl.
