TEAM PACQUIAO RUNS OUT OF TICKET By Aquiles Z. Zonio PhilBoxing.com Sun, 23 Nov 2014 MACAU ? Team Pacquiao ran out of tickets due to sheer number of people who came here just to watch eight-division boxing champ Manny Pacquiao defend his World Boxing Organization (WB) Welterweight belt against undefeated American boxer Chris Algieri. Michael Koncz, Pacquiao?s financial adviser, told Philboxing.com that the Filipino boxing superstar had requested from Top Rank for additional fight tickets. ?As to the total number of additional tickets, only Cong. Manny Pacquiao knows,? Koncz said. Koncz was having a headache how to accommodate the increasing number of guests from the Philippines and other parts of the world who continue to swarm the gambling capital of Asia since Monday just to watch the fight. ?I went around the place and tried to find available hotel rooms for the guests. All the nine hotels I visited were fully-booked. This is just crazy,? Koncz said. Koncz bared there are those who came here on their own, but only few of them. Team Pacquiao just provided them with fight tickets. The expenses of most of the guests, particularly those coming from General Santos City and Sarangani, are being shouldered by Pacquiao. Among the Filipino politicians spotted here include Sen. Aquilino ?Koko? Pimentel III, Oriental Mindoro Rep. Reynaldo Umali, Bacolod City Rep. Evelio Leonardia, Navotas City Rep. Tobias Tiangco, Caloocan City Rep. Edgar Erice, Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson, Oriental Mindoro Gov. Alfonso Umali, Manila City mayor Joseph Estrada, General Santos City mayor Ronnel Rivera and Sarangani Municipal Mayors League President Victor James Yap of Glan. Six provincial boardmembers from Sarangani and 15 barangay captains from General Santos City arrived on Saturday afternoon here. The day before that, the boxer-lawmaker from Sarangani got a morale booster when the entire players of his KIA team arrived to cheer for him. When the Filipino boxing sensation met his players at the conference room of his suite, he asked them ?Anong nangyari (What happened)?? obviously referring to the back-to-back losses they suffered after their victory in first game. One of KIA players answered, ?Wala ka kasi eh.? They, however, vowed to play better in their last two outings in PBA to avoid elimination. Meanwhile, Team Pacquiao imposed a strict curfew on all people visiting the suite of the Pinoy boxing legend in Venetian Hotel on Saturday. The Fighter of the Decade entertained visitors only until 8:00 p.m. then retreated to his room to get enough rest. Photo: Pacquiao and his team during a workout at The Venetian in Macau.
