ALEXANDER DOMINATES SOTTO-KARASS FOR UD WIN
By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Sun, 22 Jun 2014

CARSON, CA -- Devon Alexander (26-2-0, 14KO) of St Louis, MO. was simply too slick and too fast for a lumbering slugger like Jesus Soto Karass (28-10-3, 18KO) of Los Mochis, Mexico. He, in most instances beat Sotto Karass to the punch. His counter punching accuracy made a veteran like Sotto Karass look like an ordinary boxer. Sotto Karass was of course better than that.
Through out the fight, much as he wanted to land his haymakers Sotto Karass was almost always beaten to the draw by the far quicker Alexander.

That in essence told the whole story of the 10 round fight- a very strong but slower Sotto Karras vs. the quick release counter puncher Devon Alexander.
In the end, speed, as they say, skills. Sadly, for Sotto Karass that was just how it was.
Alexander of course came away with a well deserved UD much to the disappointment of the predominantly Mexican crowd. But they did not complain.so much.
Tonight, "Si se puede" didn't work at all. Alexander was simply the better guy.
Scores were: 97-93, 99-91, 99-91.
