NBA -- Rockets clobber Lakers, 145-130 By Rogelio Mensidor PhilBoxing.com Wed, 09 Apr 2014 ![]() HOUSTON -- The Houston Rockets cruised to an easy victory Tuesday night, pummeling the struggling Los Angeles Lakers, 145-130, at the Staples Center The Rockets' 145-point outburst was the most scored in a non-overtime game in four years while the 275 points the Rockets and Lakers put together was the most combined production in a non-overtime game since the Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns put up 284 last March 15, 2009. Houston dominated early, leading the first quarter, 35-26 before Los Angeles stormed back to close the gap at 66-61 at halftime. But the Rockets had enough and dropped 49 in the third quarter to seal the deal. The Lakers' loss ruined the career-night of All-Star Steve Nash, who surpassed Mark Jackson as the NBA's third all-time assist leader. Nash finished with five dimes against the Rockets, bumping his career total to 10, 335. Six Rockets scored in double figures with James Harden and Terrence Ross each tallying 33. Chandler Parsons chipped in 19 on 8-for-13 shooting from the field and Houston converted 56 of 97 field goals (57.7 percent) and 11 of 26 triples (42.3 percent). All-Star center Dwight Howard (left ankle strain) and point guard Patrick Beverley (right knee meniscus tear) did not suit up for Houston, which improved to 52-25, fourth in the Western Conference. Nick Young paced the Lakers with 32 points while Jodie Meeks contributed 30 and six assists. The Lakers ended up with assists 38-33, but they couldn't stop the Rockets' barrage and fell to 25-53, sixth worst in the NBA.
