SAN MIG COFFEE WINS PBA GOVERNORS' CUP TITLE
By Maloney L. Samaco PhilBoxing.com Sat, 26 Oct 2013

After the do-or-die encounter, San Mig Coffee Mixers are the champions of the 2013 PBA Governors? Cup as they humbled the Petron Blaze Boosters, 85-77, in Game Seven of the Finals last night before 21,319 fans at the Araneta Coliseum.
Marc Pingris was the player of the game and eventually awarded the Finals MVP with 19 points, 17 rebounds, and five blocks and was at the helm of the San Mig defensive stand against the blazing guns of the Boosters.
The title was the 15th for coach Tim Cone in the history of the professional league and he equaled the record of his idol, the legendary coach Baby Dalupan as the PBA?s all-time winningest coach.
Pingris challenged Petron giant rookie June Mar Fajardo and also handcuffed Boosters import Elijah Millsap who finished his lowest finals output of 25 points.
Millsap faltered on several offensive attempts in the fourth quarter when the Boosters needed him most and when the Coffee Mixers were already ahead down the stretch. Several turnovers and lots of misses hounded Petron and they just can't deliver the basket when San Mig smelled the title.
Best Import Marqus Blakely had 19 points, 13 rebounds, and four steals and delivered the crucial baskets for the Mixers during crunch time. Peter June Simon contributed 16 points, Joe Devance had 11, Mark Barroca sank 10, and James Yap added 8.
Fajardo showed why he is considered the future of Philippine basketball with his 20 points and 15 rebounds, but felt the pressure when he hit only 4-of-12 from the free throw line.
The Mixers are used to the pressures of a game seven because eight players were in the same team which played in the rubber match against Rain or Shine in last year?s Governors' Cup.
San Mig Coffee, also known as Purefoods Tender Juicy Hotdogs, snatched their 10th PBA title.
