NBA preseason game -- Wade powers Heat over Spurs

In a rematch between last June's NBA Finals protagonists, the Miami Heat came out victorious once again.
Dwyane Wade scored with 25 points in 26 minutes while James Jones added 18 and the two-time defending champions Miami Heat easily handled the San Antonio Spurs 121-96 in a preseason game Saturday night (Sunday, Manila time) at the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
LeBron James rested and sat with the with fans, while Ray Allen didn't shoot crucial three pointers. And there was no championship at stake.
Wade converted 10 of 14 field goals on top of seven assists and four rebounds. Chris Bosh reinforced the Heat with 17 points on 8-for-10 shooting. Bosh had been on excellent shooting of 61 percent in the preseason, averaging 17 points in six games.
The Spurs relied on Kawhi Leonard for offense as he scored 17, while Marco Belinelli added 15 and Manu Ginobili sank 13.
Michael Beasley scored 12 and Norris Cole added 10 for Miami, which led by as many as 32 and was never behind on points.
Udonis Haslem returned to the starting lineup after recovering from illness. He lost several pounds and finished with seven points and eight rebounds in 20 minutes.
Tony Parker has no points, rebounds or assists in 18 minutes, and Tim Duncan scored only nine points in 21 minutes. .
As part of their preparations for this season, Popovich and coaching staff reviewed the tapes of the Finals games, especially the hurting sixth and seventh. They were hoping to sooth the pains of the heart-breaking losses.
The Heat also played without Rashard Lewis who was absent again due to personal reasons. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said they expect Lewis to be back in action in the succeeding games. (MS)
