ROUND 3 OF TURKEY WORLD JUNIOR CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP: DOCENA WINS BUT FRONDA FALLS By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Mon, 16 Sep 2013 NATIONAL MASTER (NM) Jerad Docena (ELO 2227) of the Philippines played even better in his third game in the on-going World Junior Chess Championships 2013, turning back International Master Richard Wang of Canada on Monday being held at The Ness Hotel in Kocaeli, Turkey. The Tagubaas, Antequera, Bohol native Docena raised his total to 2.0 points in three outings to climb at 22nd to 47th places, together with his fourth round opponent Sunilduth Lyna Narayanan (ELO 2408) of India. Top seed GM Yu Yangyi (ELO 2662) of China, No.2 GM Alexander Ipatov (ELO 2601) of Turkey, No. 6 GM Salem A.R. Saleh (ELO 2570) of UAE and No.13 IM Duda Jan-Krzystof (ELO 2534) of Poland are leading the way in the Open Division with 3.0 points each. Meanwhile, Docena' s victory somehow cushioned the defeat of compatriot Woman National Master (WNM) Jan Jodilyn Fronda (ELO 2038) who lost to Woman Grandmaster (WGM) Rout Padmini (ELO 2312) of India. The San Andres, Manila based Fronda was stuck at 1.0 point, and was dropped into a tie for 48th to 66th place along with her fourth round opponent Woman Fide Master (WFM) Assaubayeva Bibissara (ELO 1761) of Kazakhstan. No.3 WGM Aleksandra Goryachkina (ELO 2418) of Russia, No.9 WIM Zhai Mo (ELO 2309) of China and No.11 WIM Warda Aulia Medina (ELO) of Indonesia are showing the way in the Girls Division with 3.0 points each. Docena and Fronda, both won the National Junior chess championships for Boys and Girls to represent the country in the said World Junior chess meet. Docena and Fronda are accompanied by International Master Yves Ranola as coach whose trip supported by the National Chess Federation of the Philippines, Bayan Muna Party-list Rep.
