TOMOKI KAMEDA RECEIVES HIS WBO TITLE BELT By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Wed, 28 Aug 2013 WBO President Francisco 'Paco' Valcarcel presents the WBO championship belt to Tomoki Kameda. Budapest ? Newly-minted WBO bantamweight champion Tomoki Kameda of Japan from the famed Kameda fighting brothers, received his WBO championship belt for WBO President Francisco 'Paco' Valcarcel Tuesday during the opening day of the WBO 26th Annual Congress held at the Budapest Intercontinental Hotel here. Kameda won the title against Paulus Ambunda of Namibia last August 1 at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino in Cebu, Philippines where the wily Japanese dominated the defending champion with his speed and timely combinations. Ambunda failed to defend the title after winning it against Thailand's Pungluang Sor Singyu in March. Tomoki, the youngest, does completed the trio of Kameda brothers who become world champions, a first historical feat in boxing. The eldest, Koki, is the reigning WBA bantamweight champion while Daiki was a former WBA flyweight champion. Daiki however will be fighting on Tuesday, Sep. 3 against Rodrigo Guerrero of Mexico for the vacant IBF super flyweight title in Kagawa, Japan, and if he wins, all three brothers will be reigning world champions at the same time. Shiro Kameda, the father-trainer of the brood, also received a plaque of special recognition from the WBO for having achieved such a feat for his sons. Tomoki also received another recognition/award from the WBO for being the first ever Japanese to become a WBO world champion. Japan, thru the Japan Boxing Commission (JBC) only recently allowed the WBO to hold title fights in Japan and for the first time, the JBC is sending their representatives to a WBO convention here in Budapest. Meanwhile, Shiro Kameda has informed Philboxing that his sons will continue training in Cebu for their future fights and Kameda Promotions will continue to hold fights in Cebu.
