NBA -- Heat surge ahead with 2-1 lead By Alex Gardunio PhilBoxing.com Sun, 12 May 2013 CHICAGO -- It looks as if the flashy can get dirty as the Miami Heat took a 2-1 series lead against the Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference semifinals Friday night at the United Center. Following their beat down of the Bulls in Game 2, Miami held off a physical and frustrating Chicago defense with a 104-94 win to take a 2-1 lead in their best-of-7 series. "You can't win a championship being pretty and shiny," the Heat's Chris Bosh said during the postgame press conference. "You're going to have to get dirty. You're going to have to play physical. You're going to have to dive on the floor. You're going to have to do things that are extremely tough." Lebron James finished the game strong with 25 points, 12 in the fourth quarter. The major players for the Heat in Friday night's slugfest were Bosh and Norris Cole. Bosh started the game hot hitting three of his first four shots grabbing 10 boards by the end of the first half while Cole picked up more of the offense when James and Wade seemed to be almost irrelevant. Cole ended the night with 18 points off the bench as he seemed to take the ball to Robinson and Marquis Teague and create shots for himself shooting 6-7 from the field and going 3-3 from beyond the arc. Unlike Game 2, Chicago refused to go quietly in this matchup as the game was tight the whole night. Despite the hard fought battle Chicago was without the ailing Luol Deng and Kirk Hinrich(calf) as long as Derrick Rose continuing to remain inactive coming off his surgery that left him sidelined all season. Nazr Mohammed didn't make things easier for the Bulls as he was ejected early in the second quarter for shoving Lebron James to the ground following a James pulling of Nazr to the ground. A small confrontation occurred on the court as Tom Thibodeau and Erik Spoelstra broke up their teams and had them head back to their respective benches as the officials went to review the tape. Lebron did receive a technical for the initial pull as Nazr was handed a personal foul and finally sent to the showers as his night ended with 9:29 left to play in the second. "That's the way our league is now," Robinson said. "It's not like back in the day when Isiah Thomas and guys damn near had fights back in the day and nobody use to get kicked out. But you've got to play through it." Robinson looked to try and keep a spark for the Bulls all night with quick passes and hard drives and even a big block on a James drive to the hoop that sparked the crowd to erupt in the UC. It was a signature Lebron block with reversed roles. Carlos Boozer started hot on the offense early with 14 points at half and Marco Belinelli took a hot hand hitting three 3-pointers and having 12 points at half but finished the game with just 16 while Boozer stayed consistent and ended the game with 21 points. Miami's bench outscored the Chicago Bulls bench 36-8. Game 4 stays in Chicago Monday night at the United Center.
