Donaire to fight Tsutsumi on December 17 in Japan

FORMER WBC World bantamweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire will fight undefeated Seiya Tsutsumi of Japan on December 17 at Kokugikan in Tokyo.
The 43-year-old Donaire [43-8-0, 28], who is currently training in Cebu City, last fought and beat Andres Campos by a 9th round technical decision last June 14 at the Casino Buenos Aires in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
A clash of heads in the 9th round caused a deep cut over Donaire’s right eyebrow, who said he was unable to see.
Referee Luis Pabon ordered the scorecards which saw it 87-84, 87-84 and 88-83, all in favor of Donaire.
Donaire earlier lost to Mexico’s Alexandro Santiago by unanimous decision for the vacant WBC World bantamweight title last July 29, 2023 in Las Vegas.
The 29-year-old Tsutsumi [12-0-3, 8KOs], on the other hand, recently settled a unanimous draw with compatriot Daig Higa last February 24 at Ariake Arena in Koto-Ku.
Meanwhile, reigning WBO World flyweight champion Anthony Olascuaga [10-1-0, 7KOs] of the USA will defend his crown against Taku Kuwahara [14-2-0, 9KOs] of Japan in the main event.
The main supporting match pits WBO World light flyweight champion Rene “Chulo” Santiago [14-4-0, 9KOs] of Puerto Rico against undefeated Kyosuke Takami [10-0-0, 8KOs] of Japan.
