Cuello makes weight, ready to rumble tonight in Osaka By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sun, 07 Apr 2013 Denver Cuello easily made weight for his fight tonight against hometown fighter, Takashi Kunishige in Osaka, Japan. Cuello easily shed the pounds needed for him to make the 108 pound limit in his scheduled 10 round duel with Kunishige at the Bodymaker Gym in the said city. ?Under pa siya. Si Denver under ng 150 grams sa limit nila na 108lbs.? (Cuello weighed 150 grams below the 108 pound limit.) reported his manager, Aljoe Jaro who is overseeing Cuello and his other ward, Sonny Boy Jaro who will also see action today at the same card. Cuello is excited and upbeat when he chatted with Philboxing.com from Osaka, Japan earlier today. He mentioned that he weighed 107 pounds in the scale this morning and that he is at his best for tonight?s battle. Cuello also expressed confidence that he will be victorious tonight against Kunishige and is looking to win it impressively. ?Kundisyon po ako, at sa awa nang Diyos, panalo po tayo, siguro K.O.? (I am well-conditioned and by God?s mercy, I will win, maybe by K.O.) expressed Cuello. Cuello has long been ranked number one by the WBC besides being its Silver Belt title holder. He was bypassed at least twice by the organization, forcing him to the sidelines as other boxers ranked below him get their opportunities to fight for the belt. This time will be different according to his manager. Jaro assured Philboxing.com that Cuello will get that opportunity after this fight, if he is victorious against Kunishige. ?After po ng laban ni Denver dito, one hundred percent na po na world championship na ang susunod, siguro by July.? (After this fight, it is a hundred percent that Denver will be fighting for the world championship next, maybe by July.) The 26 year old Cuello knows that a victory over his Japanese foe tonight will bring him one step closer to his long-delayed dream of fighting for the WBC?s Minimum/ Straw weight (105 pound) strap. ?Handa na ako para sa laban ko ngayon at sa world championship na susunod kong laban. Napaka -importante po nito kasi pag nananalo ako ngayon, sa July lalaban na ako para sa world (title). (I am ready for this fight and also for my next one, which will be for a world championship. This fight is very important because if I win this, I will be fighting for the world title in July.) said Cuello. But prior to that dream of his, Denver Cuello will first be asked to take care of business in enemy territory tonight.
