Alvin Gayeta Roma leads Mansa Engineering team to the championship of the Oliver Laroya 3x3 (Tatluhan) Rapid Chess Team Tournament By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Sun, 26 Apr 2026 Alvin Gayeta Roma led the Mansa Engineering with his undefeated record feat, which paved the way for Mansa Engineering's performance, besting 20 other teams enough to clinch the title plus the top prize of P30,000 of the Oliver Laroya 3x3 (Tatluhan) Rapid Chess Team Tournament held in Santo Tomas Poblacion, La Union on Saturday, April 25,2026. Roma who won the individual Board 2 gold medalist, tallied four wins and two draws, while his team mate Board 1 Virgen Gil Ruaya chipped in 2.0 points while Board 3 player John Mauricc Delos Santos notched 5.5 points. Overall, Mansa Engineering team tallied 10 match points enough to secure the title. "I am very happy with my performance," said Roma, a certified International Chess Coach and Instructor. AG Yaman (9.0 match points) which is composed of NM Darry Bernardo, Sebastian Damonsong and Romeo Rodney Palaming placed second to receive P20,000, while Team Larry D 2nd (9.0 match points) led by Marc Francis Balanay, Daryl Penaflorida and Bert Tariagao ended up third to earn P15,000. Mansa Engineering Team B, Chessmates Philippines and Team Larry D 1st occupied fourth to sixth spots with similar 8.0 match points to go home P5,000, P5,000 and P3,000, respectively. Rounding up to the top 10 with 7.0 match points apiece to receive P3,000 each are Team Bahala na, Forced Mate Protocol Team, Team Pawn Stars and SGM_Orine 24 La Union. The 1-day rapid (15 minutes plus 3 seconds increment) chess tournament, hosted and sponsored by Oliver Laroya, organized by Dodimi Laroya and supervised by IA Ilann Perez, NA Renato Abalos and NA Diomel Medrano.
