NBA -- Nowitzki's late 3 sinks Bulls By Kristin Haas PhilBoxing.com Sun, 31 Mar 2013 CHICAGO -- Dirk Nowitzki drilled a 3 with 2.9 seconds left and the Dallas Mavericks rallied to beat the Chicago Bulls, 100-98, Saturday aftenoon at the American Airlines Center. "It felt flat leaving my hand," Nowitzki said as Dallas came back from a huge deficit in the final three and a half minutes of play. Nowitzki, who finished with a season-high 35, scored the final eight points of the Mavericks' 15-1 run to that closed out the Bulls. After Jimmy Butler missed two free throws with 15.9 seconds remaining, Vince Carter drove down the lane and kicked a pass out to Nowitzki, who stepped into a 3-pointer with Luol Deng trailing after him. Chicago led Dallas by 12 but the Mavs refused to go away and came out in the end with the win. Dallas came into the matchup a game behind the Los Angeles Lakers for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. This win comes after a tough 25 point loss to Indiana as the Mavericks will be looking to a four game road trip starting against the Lakers Tuesday night. The Bulls hit a season-high 12 three pointers and Carlos Boozer and Luol Deng each had 25 points. Nate Robinson scored 14 of his 25 in the final period and made all seven of his three point attempts. ''He was on fire,'' Nowitzki said of Robinson. ''It was like a video game.'' This loss comes after Chicago ended Miami's 27-game winning streak on Wednesday. Once again the Bulls were without Noah (right foot), Hamilton (lower back) and Belinelli (abdominal strain). 'This was definitely a tough loss,'' Chicago guard Kirk Hinrich said. ''We just didn't finish it out. They have a lot of guys with lots of experience and I give them credit.'' Chicago will head back home for a matchup with the sputtering Detroit Pistons on Sunday night for hopes of getting another win streak going as the Bulls have absolutely man-handled the Pistons by taking the last 17 meetings. Chicago has not lost to Detroit since Dec. 23, 2008 and look to make it 18 straight. (KH) Dirk Nowitzki (L) scored 35 points as Dallas rallied to beat the Bulls 100-98.
