Bernard Hopkins rewrites history with win over Tavoris Cloud
By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sun, 10 Mar 2013

Brooklyn, NY - Bernard Hopkins already owned the distinction of being the oldest boxing champion at the age of 46 years old. And tonight, he erased that record by claiming another championship belt at the age of 48 by beating IBF Light Heavyweight title holder, Tavoris Cloud.
Hopkins, of Philadelphia, PA snatched Cloud's belt with a convincing 12 round Unanimous Decision victory at The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Hopkins controlled the pace of the fight with clear punching and excellent ring mobility against his younger opponent who was not able to sustain his offense all night.
Cloud was the aggressor during the whole fight, attacking Hopkins with his combinations. He pursued his challenger in all corners pouring shots to the body and head of his older opponent. He was successful in spurts but was not clearly the dominant fighter tonight.
Hopkins was able to elude Cloud's combinations and scored on his own with well placed hooks and uppercuts that looked impressive in the eyes of the 12,293 who attended the fight. He also showed his vintage self, as he clowned around after Cloud missed on his big shots. He also looked less fatigued during the last four rounds against Cloud who was breathing heavy during the break between those rounds. Hopkins was moving well against his opponent who is 17 years younger than him, hitting him with punches while successfully defending himself in the process.
The judges at ringside was unanimous with their decision, with cards of 117-111 and two scores of 116-112 all for the Philly fighter who tonight became the oldest boxer to become a world champion, another great feat for the legendary Bernard Hopkins.
