NBA -- Bulls hand Bucks payback in Milwaukee

PhilBoxing.com

CHICAGO - Twice this season, the Bulls got embarrassed at home by the Milwaukee Bucks at the United Center. Twice -- one on November 26 and another last January 9 -- the Bulls couldn't hang on to huge leads of 27 and 15 points respectively.

But Monday night was payback time for the revenge-minded Bulls, who blew the Bucks out of the BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee, 104-88.

This time around, the Bulls built a 20-point lead and never looked back, allowing the Bucks to come no closer than 73-64 in the second half.

Nate Robinson, the Bulls' tiny 5-foot-9, 180-pound reserve point guard, sprang off the bench and tormented the Bucks with his streak scoring. Robinson, the NBA's only three-time slam dunk champion, unloaded 16 of his 24 points in the second quarter, allowing the Bulls to pull away with a 55-37 bulge.

Power forward Carlos Boozer did not suit up due to a sore hamstring, but reserve Taj Gibson filled in nicely with 14 points and nine rebounds.

"Know my looks and just attack the paint. That's what I did. I'm not going to shy away. I know I can be a starter one day. So whenever I get the chance, I just step up," Taj Ginson told the Chicago Tribune.

Besides Robinson and Gibson, the 28-17 Bulls didn't have a short supply of quality performers. Jimmy Butler continued his hot streak with 18 points and six rebounds while Joakim Noah added 12 and 12 rebounds. Rip Hamilton settled for just 10 but versatile forward Luol Deng had another all-around effort of 12 points, 13 rebounds and five assists.

Ersan Ilyasova led the Bucks with 18 points while Samuel Dalembert added 14 and 13 rebounds. The dreaded backcourt duo of Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis combined for 27 points but shot just 10-for-28 from the field. The Bucks dropped to 24-20 and third in the Central Division. (HDS)
