South Padre Island, Live on DAZN BROWNSVILLE, TX (October 14, 2025) – Brownsville native Omar “El Relámpago” Juarez (19-2, 7 KOs) will return to the ring in front of a home crowd on Saturday, October 18, when he faces Omar Rosario (14-2, 4 KOs) of Caguas, Puerto Rico, in a -round super lightweight bout. The fight will take place at the South Padre Island Convention Center in Texas and will be televised live on DAZN as part of MVP’s “Most Valuable Prospects 16” card. Juarez, 27, enters the fight on a strong run of form and is looking to extend his winning streak while climbing back into the title picture. With his fan-friendly style and community-first mindset, Juarez will be fighting just minutes from his hometown in what he sees as a pivotal moment in his career. Juarez has been sharpening his tools under the guidance of renowned boxing coach Bob Santos in Las Vegas, where he’s gone through a grueling and highly focused training camp designed to refine his style and sharpen his ring IQ. “Training in Las Vegas with Coach Bob Santos has been hard but rewarding at the same time,” said Juarez. “Every session has been structured with purpose—whether it’s breaking down film, focusing on footwork, or learning to control the tempo. It’s been intense, but I’ve grown a lot mentally and technically.” Santos, known for guiding multiple world champions, has helped Juarez become a more complete fighter by emphasizing discipline, strategic pressure, and adaptability. “I feel like I’m entering my prime—not just physically, but mentally,” Juarez added. “This camp reminded me that small adjustments can lead to big results. I’m more prepared than ever to put it all together in the ring.” Rosario, also a skilled boxer with a decorated amateur background, presents a meaningful test for Juarez. With both fighters having a lot at stake, fans can expect a tactical and spirited battle between two high-level professionals. The Puerto Rican fighter has competed at a high level and has earned a reputation for being a durable, technical opponent. “Rosario is a solid fighter—he’s smart, disciplined, and has shared the ring with good competition,” continued Juarez. “But I’ve studied him, and I know what I bring to the table. I’m faster, sharper, and stronger. I plan to control every moment of this fight.” Juarez, who proudly represents Brownsville, is excited to fight in front of the hometown crowd. The bout at South Padre Island marks a valuable opportunity for friends, family, and local supporters to watch him compete on a global platform. “There’s nothing like fighting at home,” added Juarez. “The energy, the love, the pride—it’s unmatched. I carry Brownsville with me into every fight, but to do it here, in front of my people, on a card this big—it’s special. I’m going to give them something to remember.” A victory over Rosario would mark Juarez’s 20th professional win and move him closer to a major opportunity in the deep super lightweight division. “This win is about momentum and making a statement,” Juarez concluded. “I’m ready to fight the best, but I have to handle business first. I want the world to see the level I’m on and know that I’m coming for the top guys at 140.” Most Valuable Promotions’ “Most Valuable Prospects” series returns to Texas for another action-packed night showcasing elite young talent. The October 18 event will be broadcast live on DAZN, bringing national attention to some of the sport’s most promising fighters, including Juarez, in a headline-worthy homecoming bout. ![]() |
