NBA -- Bulls face Cavs, aim for 9th season win By Kristin Haas PhilBoxing.com Thu, 06 Dec 2012 CHICAGO -- After a disappointing 80-76 loss to the Indiana Pacers Tuesday night at the United Center, the Chicago Bulls travel to Cleveland and hope for a quick turnaround when they face the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Quicken Loans arena. The cellar-dwelling Cavaliers are 4-14 for the season and currently in the bottom of the Central Division. They are without their injured star point guard Kyrie Irving, who fractured his finger in mid-November and will miss at least four weeks. Irving, in his sophomore NBA season, averaged 22.9 points and 5.6 assists per game in 10 outings so far. Even without Irving, these Cavaliers cannot be taken lightly. They manage to score 95.9 points per game, and with Anderson Varejao leading the league with a mind-blowing 15.4 rebounds a game, the Cavaliers outrebound their foes, 42.6 to 39.2 a contest. The 6-foot-11 Varejao, along with Dion Waiters, also leads Cleveland in scoring with 15.2 markers per. The Cavs, however, do not have the monopoly of injuries. Already without injured superstar Derrick Rose (torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament - ACL), the Bulls will travel to Cleveland minus shooting guard Richard "Rip" Hamilton, who is sidelined with a torn plantar fascia in his left foot. Starting in Hamilton's place is Marco Belinelli, who joined the Bulls only this past summer. To move up to a 9-8 won-lost slate, the Bulls will rely heavily on Luol Deng and his 18 points per game (Kristin Haas) Click here to view a list of other articles written by Kristin Haas.
