DRIAN FRANCISCO DEMOLISHES TOUGH JAVIER GALLO IN 5 By Rich Mazon PhilBoxing.com Sun, 18 Nov 2012 Drian Francisco scored a 5th round stoppage of a tough and aggressive Javier Gallo in his first outing in U.S. soil just moments ago. The 23-1 (18 KOs) Francisco utilized uppercuts and good counter shots to tame the wild punching Gallo 18-5 (10 KOs) who pressed him from opening bell. Gallo never stopped his pressure of Francisco even after getting cut in his left eye at the end of the 2nd round. Francisco countered his aggressive foe with a mixture of body and head shots that hurt his aggressive opponent. The cut did not stop Gallo as he continued attacking the Filipino fighter in the 3rd and scoring good punches in the process. Francisco is clearly bothered by his opponent?s tactic as he was put on the retreat for most of the round. Francisco evaded Gallo?s attack by moving out of the Mexican?s way, making him unable to throw punches of his own. Gallo would continue to haunt him despite being caught in the process. But Gallo can only gamble so much as Francisco caught him with an uppercut and a hard straight in the 5th round. It was the Filipino fighter?s turn to attack when he saw that Gallo was hurt by those combinations. A barrage of head and body shots finished the job for Francisco in the 2:54 mark of the round when the referee waived the fight off after seeing enough. ?Nahirapan ako kasi maliit siya atsaka ibang style, fighter talaga.? (It was tough, because he is smaller than me and he is a fighter.) was Francisco?s immediate post-fight comment. ?Siya ay beteranong fighter, kaya niyang i-handle ang suntok ko atsaka matibay talaga.? (He is a veteran, he can handle my punches and he is really durable.) added Francisco. Francisco improved his record to 24 wins with the victory and more impressively improved his knockout record to 19 with this stoppage.
