Junmar Emon.
Toronto, ON - Boxing enthusiast and competitor, Junmar Emon from Toronto, Canada is making his Boxing Professional debut May 12, 2012 at the Mississauga Hershey Center. The muscular Filipino boasts many pugilistic skills training at Stockyards Boxing and Fitness and has placed as a bronze medalist in the illustrious Golden Gloves tournament. Emon recently turned pro and has been signed by United Promotions who puts on the largest boxing events in Ontario, Canada.

Born in Dumaguete City, Philippines, the 27 year old Toronto native boasts an amateur record of 46 wins with only 11 losses. Coming to Canada at the early age of 5 years old, he has been a fan the punch sport as far as he can remember. He has been boxing for the last 8 years, but it is the last year and a half he has pushed the pace and made the vital decision to go professional.

He works under the tutelage of Coach and Rick Souce who is a former professional boxer who fought Hector "Macho" Camaco in Puerto Rico back in the late 80?s. Souce was an amateur Canadian Champion and world ranked in the top of his division. Since his retirement in the early ?90?s, Souce has stayed in intimate contact with sport Coaching fighters in the Toronto area.

The Filipino fighter believes that his countrymen in the sport of Boxing are not great in numbers, but strong in presence. He is currently following the careers of Nonito Donaire Jr, Mercito Gesta and above all, Manny Pacquiao. Some of his other favourite boxers are Miguel Cotto and Shane Mosely.

Emon will be facing Hamilton fighter Darul Peron (0-1) for four rounds in the undercards. The main event features world ranked Logan Cotton McGuiness, NABA Super Featherweight Champion (16-0-1, 8KO) versus Meacher Major (20-4-1, 17KO). Emon will be bringing power, speed and ring experience to the table. The stocky Filipino brings in sound defense and power combinations against the 6?3 opponent?s reach. With four rounds, Emon hopes for a fast and intense match and intends to end the bout early.
Philboxing will be on location to cover this highly anticipated Fight Card ?The Rise? where the undefeated Samuel Vargas (10-0-1) makes his return as the co-main event and defends his Canadian (NCC) Welterweight Championship belt for the first time.
