Chieh-Yu Chou is the 2012 Amway Cup World 9-Ball Open Champion; pockets $20,000 By Marlon Bernardino PhilBoxing.com Tue, 20 Mar 2012 Manila, Philippines -- ONCE again, Chieh Yu Chou, has proven the Taiwanese expertise in billiard sports after winning the recently-concluded 2012 AMWAY eSpring Women?s World 9-Ball Open Championship Sunday at the Cue Master Pool Club in Taipei, Taiwan. Chou defeated Jasmin Ouschan of Austria, 11-9, in the finals to went home the top prize of $20,000 top prize. Ouschan satisfied $10,000 for her effort. This is the second time for Chou to rule the Women's World 9-Ball Open after she dominated the World Pool-Billiard Association (WPA) sanctioned event two years ago. Chou seize a 5-0 lead in the race-to-11, Chinese Taipei Billiards Federation (CTBF) event. However, Ouschan was only waiting her turn. She fought back in her usual take-no-prisoners style to tie the match at 9-9 until Chou won the last two racks. Chou will be joining fellow Taiwanese Ko Pin-yi and 2012 World 9-ball kingpin Chang Jung-lin in the Perry Mariano's Bugsy Promotions outfit. Reigning Southeast Asian Games double gold medallist Iris "Figther" Ranola received $700 for sharing 17th to 24th place while 2009 Women's World 10-ball ruler Rubilen "Bingkay" Amit received $500 for tying 25th to 32nd place.
