HOW FAR SHOULD LOYALTY GO? By Ed de la Vega, DDS PhilBoxing.com Thu, 27 Oct 2011 Wildcard Gym, Hollywood, CA:- Over the years that Manny Pacquiao has been fighting in the USA, one person that was there with him from the beginning to the present is his chubby boyhood friend Buboy Fernandez. One can?t help but remember the days when Pacquiao and Fernandez used to shack up at the Vagabond Hotel next door to the Wildcard Gym. They were the perennial occupants of Room 120. Fernandez was Pacquiao?s Boy-Friday. He would do what ever it takes to make Pacquiao, the boxer as comfortable as necessary. He did all the odd jobs too and he was his trainer to boot. Pacquiao and Fernandez go a long ways. Fernandez literally saw the meteoric rise of Pacquiao, his rags to riches story, so to speak. All through those years, he was the most loyal friend. And, he remained as such in spite the addition of the multitude of hangers-on to the ?team? that popped off as the days went. He was never involved in controversies or activities that made the news. He was just there when needed. Of course such behavior earned him ?points? and those eventually transposed to rewards, monetarily and otherwise. But to Fernandez, it seems that being at Manny?s beck and call was not enough to show his loyalty to the man that returned such loyalty. Today, after receiving tips from insiders that Fernandez did something rather ?permanent? to demonstrate his undying loyalty to Pacquiao, we were able to persuade him to show us his new tattoo depicting the face of Manny Pacquiao in his upper arm. Oh, the tattoo was not perfect match with Pacquiao?s facial features. But, it was rather close enough and in fact nicely done. Anyone that would see it will recognize it as Pacquiao. Now there is no iota of doubt how Fernandez feels about his friend. The way he demonstrated it left no room for that. Pacquiao is his man. Permanently!
