TEAM PEREZ: 'WE KNOW THE KEY TO BEAT BANAL'
By Dong Secuya PhilBoxing.com Wed, 27 Oct 2010

CEBU CITY -- Team Luis Alberto Perez has declared that they know the key to beat local boy and highly rated bantamweight AJ 'Bazooka' Banal although Mario Antonio Garcia, Perez's manager, refused to go into details when asked to elaborate.
Perez, former IBF title holder in flyweight and bamtamweight, and Banal will meet this Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Waterfront Hotel & Casino in what is said to be Banal's toughest assignment so far.
"We know the key to beat him (Banal)," Garcia declared when both Team Perez and Team Hernadez were presented to the Cebu media on Tuesday. "We know of at least three ways how to beat him," Garcia added.
Banal's only loss was against Rafael Concepcion of Panama in July, 2008 at the Cebu Coliseum when, after leading the entire fight, Banal wilted under Concepcion's constant pressure and quit in the 10th round.
Perez, the man who will fight Banal atop the ring, however, said that he had not seen Banal's fights on tape. "He doesn't like to watch his opponent's fights so he has not seen Banal's fights on tape," Garcia informed.
Garcia also informed that Saturday's fight is very important for them because if they win, they will likely face WBO superbantam champion Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr. of Puerto Rico as they had been offered the fight. "We have not traveled from the other side of the world to come here in order to lose. We come here to win," Garcia said.
Perez (26-4-0, 17KO) who is clearly bigger in frame and longer in reach and who has been fighting as a super bantam (122 lbs) in his last three fights and Banal (22-1-1, 18KO) who has been fighting as a bantamweight (118 lbs) since his loss to Concepcion, will meet at a catchweight 120 lbs.
