"TOMORROW'S CHAMPIONS" AIRS TODAY By Anthony 'Duljoman' Andales PhilBoxing.com Sat, 08 Aug 2009 After several delays owing to a lot of administrative hitches like late application for clearance from the MTRCB, the newest boxing program on TV, Tomorrow's Champions, finally airs today from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on ABS CBN's Studio 23. Hosted by veteran boxing writer and broadcaster Manny Pinol, who is also Vice Governor of the Province of North Cotabato, the first edition of Tomorrow's Champions will feature the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Junior Flyweight Oriental championship between Bert "Ninja" Batawang of Cebu City and challenger Edrin "The Sting" Dapudong of North Cotabato. The undercard will feature the fight between 20-year-old Rommel "Little Assassin" Asenjo of North Cotabato and Wutisak Sithsoie of Thailand. The new boxing program of TV will feature recorded and edited fights of upcoming Filipino fighters, especially the unknown boxers from Mindanao, who have the potentials of making a name in professional boxing. Here are the fights that will be featured for the month of August: - Aug. 8 - Main Event: Bert Batawang vs. Edrin Dapudong, WBO Jr. Flyweight Oriental Championship; supporting bout: Rommel Asenjo vs. Wutisak Sithsoie - Aug. 15 - Main Event: :Lorenzo "Thunderbolt" Villanueva vs. Eric Macas, non-title; supporting bout: Rolando "Smooth Operator" Magbanua vs. Donryll Marcos, non-title; - Aug. 22 - Main Event: Lorenzo "Thunderbolt" Villanueva vs. Eric Canoy, WBO Featherweight Oriental Championship; supporting bout: Rommel Asenjo vs. Rocky Sardido, non-title; - Aug. 29 - Main Event: Jermie "The Cobra" Jabel vs. Rey Villar, non-title; supporting bout: Reynaldo Belandres vs. Rolando Magallano, non-title.
